Peer Support
Services
Peer Support and Certified Recovery Specialists (CRS)
Recovery support rooted in lived experience — not diagnosis.
Peer support at A Design for Living Foundation is non-clinical mentoring provided by trained professionals who have lived experience with recovery.
Our Certified Recovery Specialists work alongside individuals navigating recovery, reentry, and major life changes. Our approach is grounded in listening, mutual respect, and practical support — free from judgment or pressure.
What is Peer Suppport?
Peer support is a relationship-based service grounded in shared experience and professional training.
It is not treatment or therapy.
It is not faith-based.
It is not giving orders or directives.
Peer support is about:
Listening without judgment
Offering guidance based on lived experience
Helping identify realistic goals
Supporting follow-through and accountability
Connecting people to community resources
We meet people where they are and move at their pace.
What Peer Support looks Like?
Peer support sessions are one-on-one and focused on practical, real-life needs.
Support may include:
Ongoing peer mentoring and encouragement
Goal-setting defined by the individual
Support navigating recovery, reentry, and daily life challenges
Connection to treatment, employment, housing navigation, and community resources
Mobile engagement — meeting in the community when appropriate
Peer support is flexible, respectful, and centered on dignity.
If you’re not sure where to start, that’s okay.
We’ll figure it out together.
Support May Include – Planning & Building

Walking the Path Forward
Peer support walks alongside individuals as they move toward stability and next steps.
Where Peer Support Takes Place
In-person peer support sessions are available through our partnership with PA CareerLink® in Feasterville, PA.
We maintain a cubicle on-site, and with advance notice, CareerLink provides access to private offices or classrooms for confidential one-on-one peer support sessions.
This location was intentionally chosen because it allows individuals to access employment and career resources on-site, supporting recovery, stability, and reentry goals in one place.
Peer support may also be provided remotely, when appropriate, using secure video platforms such as Zoom or Google Meet.
Remote sessions offer flexibility for individuals facing transportation, scheduling, or other barriers.
In-person sessions are available by appointment.
Mobile, community-based, and virtual peer support options may be available based on individual needs and availability.
What Peer Support is Not
To avoid confusion, it’s important to be clear about what peer support is not:
Not therapy
Not clinical treatment
Not faith-based counseling
Not case management or supervision
Not a recovery program or meeting (such as AA, 12-step, or similar programs)
Peer support is not a replacement for recovery programs or professional services.
It complements other supports by helping individuals stay connected, engaged, and supported as they move forward.
